MC Sask Continuing Education Event

Sway the Fray
Transforming Conflict

Matthew Hartman

May 21-24 at Wildwood Mennonite Church
9:00 am – 12:30 pm
Cost: $125.00

Matthew Hartman is a passionate, relationship-oriented restorative justice practitioner engaged in values-based work that facilitates nonviolent and life-giving change within individuals and communities.

In this engaging training, participants will explore the diverse array of styles accessed for dealing with conflict, identify preferred styles, and dissect the strengths and weaknesses of each.  Within the framework of this understanding, participants will then review and practice the skills necessary to effectively communicate within the context of conflict.  These same communication skills will then be utilized to learn and practice facets of the art of mediation.

Participants will leave with a foundation of understanding and skills to effectively communicate within and intervene in interpersonal conflict situations.

Information on MC Sask Covenant

Mennonite Church Saskatchewan (MCSask) is 33 churches
with 3341 members, seeking together:

  • to build up Christ's body and serve God's kingdom here and around the world
  • to promote spiritual growth and unity of spirit among the members of the Conference and
  • to perpetuate our common Mennonite faith as a witness to the world.

We meet together to worship and discern God's will, whether deliberating in delegate sessions, celebrating in Songfests or studying in pastors' or Bible conferences. Our shared ministries include:

  • our youth organization (SMYO), camps and school (RJC)
  • resource and support services for congregations and pastors through the Pastoral Leadership and Christian Education Commissions, the Conference Minister and Youth Minister
  • service and witness ministries such as P2P (Person to Person), nursing homes and other Ministries Commission and Women in Mission initiatives
(Note that this is not an exhaustive list.)

Mennonite Church Saskatchewan partners with other area conferences to form Mennonite Church Canada, and with other national churches to form the Mennonite World Conference.
